Default Distinctive Holiday Homes - April 2008 news

I just spoke with Robert Good at Distinctive Holiday Homes and he gave me a few exciting bits of new information on their rapidly growing destination club.

Hot news

Distinctive Holiday Homes is relocating their 86 foot Lady K Mangusta yacht to the Eastern USA sometimes after the last member reservation in Greece is completed (estimated mid-October). The yacht usually receives a few months of maintenance and they hope to have it arrive in Miami, Florida sometime in late 2008 or early 2009. They are also planning on using it to visit the Bahamas and other Caribbean destinations. They will be adding a new yacht in Greece to replace Lady K.

Here is some more information on Lady K that I found online (some of it may be outdated)

Distinctive Holiday Homes now has 48 members, but he did not have the breakdown of membership types.

Robert has just completed his scouting trips to NYC and Hawaii and Distinctive Holiday Homes is planning on making a purchase at these two areas very soon.

They are trying to get a nice property in NYC and was hoping to pick up a brownstone, but could not find anything less than $6m so they are considering a few other options.

I told them that NYC is a "must-have" location and they could always play it safe by following the other Destination Clubs as they have established relationships with buildings that are "Destination Club Friendly". Robert informed me that their club likes to purchase properties that are unique locations as a point of difference when people compare their club to others.

Robert also was looking very seriously at some "Beach-front" property in Oahu, Hawaii as none of the Destination Clubs can make that claim. He likes Oahu as it is very convenient for travelers to visit that island.

Robert also wants to pick up a property in the Marina Del Rey area of Los Angeles, California as this is near the Distinctive Holiday Homes USA headquarters office.

He then informed me that they are even considering an exotic property located in Marrakesh.

As a completely side note, the "Marrakesh Express" is a popular song by Crosby, Stills, and Nash that was released on their 1969 self-titled debut album. The Marrakesh Express was a popular route for traveling hippies during the mid-to-late 1960s who sought out this Moroccan city for its mythical Arabic appearance, and maybe for its renowned plants.

Lady K was renting for 31,000 Euro weekly in 2006. That makes the DHH membership fees VERY CHEAP at about $7000 per week plus fuel and docking fees.

In fact, if the Lady K was available for charter it would cost between 35000 - 45000 Euro ($US 54,670- US$ 70,270) per week (plus fuel etc). We have 4 crew aboard for our Members including a Chef.
The Lady K is available for Distinctive Holiday Homes Members for 8 membership days for 1 week aboard. If we convert that to actual cost per day, our Members can use the Lady K for a week for as low as $5695 on a Diamond plan to $6800 with a lite plan. Plus fuel and dock age charges (if any). We also supply up to $500US worth of food and beverage per week stay and we have internet access, a computer, knowledgeable crew and a fully equipped vessel. The savings for our Members are phenomenal. This is one of the benefits of being a Distinctive Holiday Homes Member.

We will be bringing the Lady K to the East Coast of USA and the Caribbean next year and replacing her with another fancy Motor Yacht in the Mediterranean.

I look forward to welcoming more Destination Club Forums members to Distinctive Holiday Homes.

LTT:

Have you had a chance to use your DHH Membership. I know that you stated in a previous thread that you wouldn't do anything different

But I have never read a review by you of the homes compared to ER (obviously HCC) is not in the same price range.

I am considering a second club--or maybe a complete change depending on who gets Asian homes first. With air travel going up, stauing closer to home, without jet lag/time difference would be great.

ASIADCMEMBER, did you talk to quintess about acquiring in asia?

and do you happen to know of some good freehold developments that allow private rentals?

(ive only looked at the RE some in terms of new luxury resort/hotel developments)

considering DHH's presence in AU/NZ, maybe they will be the first to go into asia.
