Club: ER, HCC Corporate, DHH Lite, Bud Lite (A few too many) | Distinctive Holiday Homes has a new promotion for those who missed out on the Charter Membership: "Special Deals We also have several special deals we are running at the moment, which you may want to tell your freinds who missed out on Charter Membership about . Join DHH on our Lite - Deluxe Plan before the 31st January 2008, and no matter which plan they select DHH will pay thier first years Annual Dues which is a savings of up to $35,000. Join DHH on a Platinum or Corporate Plan before the 31st January 2008, and DHH will give them 4 hours of Sky Jet Private Jet service and we will upgrade their Quintessentially Membership to the Personal Assistant level, giving them , their own private worldwide Concierge" DHH's new promotion may be better than the old one depending on when you resign your membership. (as long as you resign after the first year) The charter membership(CM) was $25,000 per week (80% refundable) $7,000 per year dues The new promotion(NP): $50,000 per week (80% refundable) First year free dues assuming 5% ROI (yes this is an assumption) After one year cost per week: CM $25,000 x 5% + 20% x $25,000 + $7000. Cost: $13,250 NP $50,000 x 5% + 20% x $50,000 + $0 Cost: $12,500 After two years: CM $25,000 x 10% + 20% x $25,000 + $14,000. Cost: $21,500 NP $50,000 x 10% + 20% x $50,000 + $7000. Cost: $22,000 Each additional year CM $8250 NP $9500 There isn't a significant difference between the charter membership and the new promotion until after the second year. Still a pretty good deal. I also like your calculations regarding the "true costs" associated with the Charter membership and New Promotion. I agree with you that this is indeed still a "pretty good deal" especially when you factor in the costs of chartering a similar yacht or sailboat. DHH is a new up and coming Destination Club and the founder Nicolas Wood is very well known in New Zealand.

Club: ER, HCC Corporate, DHH Lite, Bud Lite (A few too many) | Just got my membership packet from DHH For $7000/yr (plus comparitively low membership fee) you get: (in addition to the usual concierge and daily maid services of most other luxury DC's) 1. Quintessentially membership $1500 2. $1000 food credit $1000 3. Airport Transfers $400 4. Luxury Car/SUV rental $800 5. Daily laundry service >$100 6. Daily breakfast service >$150 7. Motor boat at some locations >$500 Plus 7 days in a luxury home except for: 1. 86ft yacht 6 days 2. Auckland Apt 9 days 3. 53ft sailboat 15 days Sounds good I don't know how valuable the Quintessentially membership is for me. I doubt I will use it much. I wish I had more use for it. |

Club: ER, HCC Corporate, DHH Lite, Bud Lite (A few too many) | I've gotten a few newsletters so far. As far as I can see they get you about a 10% discount on terribly overpriced luxury resorts, They can get you tickets to various openings and events for thousands of dollars (VIP superbowl ticket for $13,000 per person- I'll take 8), and they can get you reservations to overpriced restaurants. All this for only $1500 a year. I am not sure I get it. As opposed to my Avis Chairmans membership. I just got a 3 day rental of a brand new 4 wheel drive Suburban in Deer Valley for $89 all fees and taxes included. They brought a brand new Cadillac STS to my hotel at Balboa Bay Club for one night and then came back to pick it up for $35. Now that is service. Or Amex Platinum where I got two round trip tickets from New York to Salt Lake for $412 and two from New York to San Diego for $422 with the two for one domestic ticket plan. I wish I could find a use for this membership. Now if they could only get me a Big Mac at half price! |

The Avis Chairman's Club and Avis President's Club appear to be "invitation only" or come as a perk from American Express Platinum, Marquis Jet, NetJets, etc. I think Destination Clubs should jump on this bandwagon soon! Here are a few links: NetJets: Private Jet Ownership - Private Business Jet Ownership Marquis Jet Card - NetJets 25 hours at a time Miles & More

Club: ER, HCC Corporate, DHH Lite, Bud Lite (A few too many) | The Avis Chairman's club is by invitation only as I know and also a perk of Net Jets, Marquis Jets and Exclusive Resorts. I think it is the best loyalty program that I have been in yet by far. It is supposed to be for Chairman's of major corporations but obviously, non chairmans also are members, but they do treat you like one. The Avis employees even call you "Chairman" when you go pick up your car,(along with your name). Basically, you get preferred rates on rentals. If you book a mid-size car, you get upgraded to the highest grade car they have available. Usually a Cadillac or Town Car. When you return your car, they drive you to the terminal and you don't have to wait for the bus. I like the Cadillac CTS and STS which I have gotten, but I don't like th Town Car. Depending on the location, they will even give you a specialty car for a free upgrade such as a convertible or SUV. When we went to San Diego when I walked on the van the driver said, "Oh, Chairman, we were expecting you sooner, (the flight was delayed one hour)" He then wisked us to the Avis location where the car was waiting there with our name on the car. Four guys helped us put the luggage in the car and helped my family into the car set with cold bottled water and a newspaper. We were out in two minutes while other people waited for the next bus and had to get in line, etc, etc. When I went to Deer Valley via SLC I asked if they could get me an SUV. I had booked an intermediate size car for $22/day for three days. When I got there they had a brand new Suburban with 300 miles on it waiting for me. In Ft. Lauderdale they had a Town Car for me and I went to the desk and asked if they had something else I could have. First the rep said, "you know this is a free upgrade" I said I knew, but did not want such a large car. She then said, "Oh my God, you are one of our Chairman. Which car do you want?" It's not always like that but I have had good lluck. Most of the International destinations don't participate and some of the destinations or employees are not as "well trained". |
