Obviously I won't be posting the entire email, but this is the part that was probably written to nip the confusion in the bud. . .

You will not be forced, in any way, to accept the new plans. Additionally, there are new provisions, improvements, language, legalese, etc in the UE club documents but you should expect your usage, and the way you enjoy the club, to remain unaffected and the culture to be unchanged.

I'll reserve the right to eat crow once the packages go out, but it seems as if UE is doing the right thing and trying to win legacy PE converts to the new UE through bigger carrots instead of screw tightening.

Kudos to Jim, if so.
I read this far differently and don't think it clears up any of the speculation. I read it that you will be able to keep your 'plan' meaning # of days and annual and daily pricing. However, the "Additionally..." part means that you will have to accept new UE club documents that impact new provisions (maybe mid-week housekeeping), changes to reservation policies, holidays, etc., etc. We'll all know soon enough...

I guess we will find out over time but in my opinion, even though we may not get everything individually we would like, if management of our club makes prudent business decisions, it increases the likelihood that the business will be sustainable and we will continue to receive the level of service and experiences for which we joined the club. When I spoke with T&H members during my diligence, they all loved the club, but since they were given everything they wanted, while they were happy over the short term, they also realized more prudent decisions might provide less short term benefits but be more economically sustainable. Hence, although there are limits on the # of days outstanding at one time and we have to pay an upgrade fee to move from one level to a higher level and their are limits on the # of interplan exchanges, although I wish these were not policies for me personally, I also realize that these are best for us all collectively to continue the growth of UE for which we have a vested interest--as long as we continue to receive high level of services and decent availability (I never expect occupancy to stay at 50% but I do expect that there is sufficient availability and choices for my family to continue to take the great vacations with Ultimate we have become accustomed). I am interested in hearing more from the PE side and I will share with you my perspective from the UR member side (and that of friends that are members) once the documents actually arrive. I think the lack of clear timely communications is one of their biggest challenges in meeting member needs--I hope that will improve as Jim's prior town hall conference calls were excellent.

I was told the packages would go out today or tomorrow via UPS, so we should get them early next week (if not sooner).

I wonder if the upgrade offers will be the same across the board, or tied closer to the original contract.
