In some ways it seems that UE is still made up of separate companies (i.e., PE and UR and T&H thrown in on the IS/real estate side). Hopefully, they can get their systems coordinated soon. Mind you this is one heck of a merger, but it's confusing to consumers to get emails from different membership directors (one from the UR side and one from the PE side). At least at this point it looks like the offers are the same, which is certainly a step in the right direction.

Yes, I've received 2 copies of the same email blast ... from 2 different people.

They need to do a quick merge of the databases, and decide which membership sales person gets which people.

Could be a big turn-off if they don't take care of this soon.

I received this email from 2 different people also. I have been in contact with another from PE so that is a total of 3 from UE. I do have to say it is a turn off as a prospective member . As appealing as this promotion may appear it also comes across as a little desperate from the side of UE. I don't want to join a club that has to "buy" its new members. The way this merger has been handled really makes me as a prospective member think about the way things might be handled in the future.

i agree itd be nice to see more PE mgmt, considering their reputation, at least here.

but i doubt the current aggressive marketing campaign will last that long. it seems like theyre just trying to challenge ER's market position.

I am not as critical as some of you about multiple e-mails as this is a result of the merger.

I just wonder if there is still some sales bonuses linked to the PE sales team vs the UR sales team. I am not implying anything more than this may be a result of "healthy competition within the new UE company"

Well, at least the UR Kissimmee team and the PE Fort Collins team are unified on the same message now.

Now that the merger is finalized and the cross-bookings are in effect (technically those start on Monday) all of the reps may be on the same system. I have no idea how much a membership director gets for each successful signup, but I trust the amount is not insignificant. So it would not surprise me for a new marketing message to go out and a membership director want that to go out to everyone on their prospective member list.

I thought the same thing. A definite improvement. Those competing offers particularly right after the merger was finalized seemed bizarre to me.

I think in any merger, you are going to have some overlap, at least in the early stages. (Hopefully, this goes away and there are cost savings achieved in the near future.) I suspect what is happening now is that the two sides haven't merged prospective member lists and thus anyone who had contacted both entities is getting double dipped. Karla is my membership rep and was very helpful throughout the process. She even arranged to have Steve H. (who sent the other e-mail in the thread) on one of our calls to talk more about the UR side of the house.

At this point, there are still separate member websites, but I suspect that will go away pretty shortly. The nice thing is that the new properties have come online and I already have days held at one of the old UR locations.
