About Going Once Declining-Price Travel Packages Premium Travel Offers Purchasing and Payment Remind Me Individual Trip FAQs ABOUT GOING ONCE What is the Going Once promotion? Going Once is a travel promotion from American Express that offers Cardmembers the limited opportunity to purchase incredible vacation packages at Cardmember-only prices and take advantage of premium travel offers from our merchant partners. Who is eligible to participate in the promotion? To participate, you must be 18 or older, a resident of the United States, and an American Express® Cardmember with a valid American Express Card. American Express Gift Cards are not eligible for this promotion. Are taxes included in the package price? Yes, all packages include any appropriate hotel taxes and fees, unless specifically stated otherwise. Can I book my trip from another gateway vs. the one stated in the package details? Yes, other gateways are typically available from the tour operator for the declining-price packages with airfare, but additional fees may apply. DECLINING–PRICE TRAVEL PACKAGES What are declining–price travel packages? Each weekday, from June 2, 2008–June 12, 2008, a different declining–price travel package will go on sale at 12PM ET. Twenty minutes after going on sale, beginning at 12:20PM ET, the package price will drop by an undisclosed amount. Every twenty minutes thereafter, the package price will drop by random increments. The package price will continue to drop every twenty minutes until 8PM ET each evening or until all the packages are sold, at which time that day's featured destination will close. All of the declining–price travel packages are available on a first–come, first–served basis. Inventory varies for each declining–price travel package. The amount by which the price drops every twenty minutes is confidential information known only by American Express. How does the declining–price mechanism work? Declining–price packages open at retail price at 12PM ET. The first price drop is at 12:20PM ET, and the price continues to drop every twenty minutes, until every package is sold or the clock strikes 8PM ET, whichever comes first. So Cardmembers can potentially purchase the same declining-price travel package at different prices? Yes. You can buy a declining–price travel package whenever the price seems right for you. | indeed. i would have hit telluride, amangani, and amelia island. also, i think UR has participated before as well, maybe last fall? i really cant remember how often these things happen. theres usually discussion in amex forum on flyertalk during them. |

Club: LUSSO Collection | If I remember correctly, that wasn't an "auction", but was the promo where they offer a very small amount of high priced items at a certain pre-determined time for an extraordinary low amount and they go to the "fastest finger". I have not "won" any of those in the past, although I tried for the Range Rover this past year!

| i seem to recall they have 2 different versions, one where the price drops, and the other where you just have "win" on a click. the price drop ones sometimes have way overinflated values. i dont think ive seem them drop past 50% of the starting price. this time around i looked at the 2 cruise values, and they seem about right. amex forum on flyertalk has some discussion. i dont read sites like fatwallet, but they probably have discussion too. |
