Default Ultimate Escapes August 2008 e-mail

Here is a recent e-mail I just received from Ultimate Escapes

Dear DC4MS,

We wanted to thank you as well as the thousands of people who have inquired about Ultimate Escapes since we first announced the combination of Ultimate Resort and Private Escapes. Your loyalty in following our progress through the merging of our two Clubs in May of this year -- and until now -- has helped us to become the Number One luxury destination club. We offer more locations than any other club. It’s that simple. And we want you to share in this experience.

Our 1400 members now enjoy access to more than 250 private residences and affiliated properties in more than 150 locations worldwide. We provide our members with the most choices in membership plans: three clubs (UE Elite Club, UE Signature Club and UE Premiere Club) and five levels within each club. We think you could enhance your life by signing up for one of these membership plans. But pricing for each plan is increasing up to $20,000 after August 31, and this is where you come in. We want to save you that $20K.

So we have an incredible opportunity for you if you join the world’s fastest growing destination club before September 1 – we will not only lock you into a $20,000 savings over our upcoming price increase, but we will also give you a $5,000 travel credit that you can use towards everything from spa treatments to chef services to fishing and yachting excursions.

I would like to schedule a time to take you through an online tour of our Members Only website. On this tour you can see all of the clubs stunning residences, view availability during the times you travel, and see how the club can have you and your family experiencing the vacation of a lifetime, every time.

Let me know what time/day would be good for me to give you a call. I look forward to speaking with you.
Best Regards,

Tom Calvin

Am I reading this right? A completely new member to UE will get a $5,000 price break, whereas a PE Legacy member converting this month does not? That's rich.

On the other hand, the price hike for September may make it more attractive for some PE Legacy members to convert.

FYI - new members are being offered a complimentary upgrade of one level in their membership enrollment ie. Silver to Gold/Gold to Platinum which has a value of $10,000 at the Premiere level. This was in an email sent out earlier in July and posted here somewhere.

Is this upgrade still being offered? We are considering membership in the signature Club at the Bronze level. There is such a discrepancy between the bronze and silver level. We considered a platinum membership, with a dream vacation, but would never be able to use the 42 days vacation.

The email offer appears to be good through the end of the month. Your best bet is to contact the club, get your foot in the door with the membership director that is assigned to you, and then dig in with the due diligence before making your decision.

Do you know where I might get a copy of the email CaribbeanSun is referring to regarding the membership upgrade?

The upgrade offer (with a complimentary category upgrade at certain levels) came and went back in June. You may read up on it here from when it was advertised in Robb Report. The promo before that was for a free week cruise on the Buscadora private yacht. They change all of the time.

It doesn't hurt to ask about it. The current promo may not be as impressive -- just the $5,000 travel credit -- but it comes at a time when the club is pointing to a rate hike next month, so they may not feel as if they have to push for a bigger break.

In other words, if the plans do go up next month by $20k or so, they may come back with the complimentary upgrade at the new pricing level. Ultimately, it's about getting on the phone and calling a membership director to see the kind of flexibility that is available.

bronze is a great place to enter too although I would not be surprised if you want more days once you join. The pricing difference is intentional. Remember on bronze you only get a holiday every other year which if that is important to you should be considered. Start with bronze and you can always upgrade the next year if your family enjoys it.

Just ask the person you're dealing with at UE - that offer plus others were made to me within the past couple weeks that exceeded the public promotion noted above.

I don't think the offer included upgrades from bronze, only silver to gold or gold to platinum generally.
