Club: A&K Residence Club | A friend of mine who is starting to look at DCs signed up for the UE webinar, and I listened in out of curiosity. He doesn't participate in this forum, so I thought that I would do a quick summary. Here's what I took out of the webinar: No Q&A section, but could submit questions via email after seminar or talk to a sales representative Nice overview of the concept and history (without discussion of any of the speed bumps (it is a sales presentation after all ))Highlighted some of the best UE properties Members travel an average of 28 days (twice as much as before they joined UE) Average stay of 4 to 4 1/2 days Unlike other vacation options, "every moment on vacation, you're on vacation" Did a good job in explaining why this is so Additional consolidation in the industry will occur Major hospitality brands are entering the industry Seeing compounded growth in the industry 5M households capable of acquiring a membership 1% market penetration by early adopters; 6,000-6,500 members (I couldn't get numbers to jive, so 1% market penetration must be based on something else) Ragatz predicts 5% market penetration within 5 years, 10% by 2018 UE has between 1,300 and 1,400 members Had some nice testimonials from members (said that they could have had 25 pages of testimonials) UE advantages: Only DC with 3 club levels 6 travel options within each club Plan flexibility Best value on market Most single destinations Overall, I thought the webinar was a nice introduction to the DC industry and UE specifically. Obviously, it left out some things that we on this forum would want to know and any negatives, but again, it is a sales presentation. The DCA really ought to think about putting a webinar on its future website that provides an education on DCs. It's very rare that anyone I talk to knows what a DC is. If they do, it's only when they know someone who is a member and then they typically have some vague understanding of it. |
