| from my last post in Discovery Club thread > you might also look at location in addition to destination - beachfront and ski-in/ski-out rather than properties where a car is required. |

Club: One Key | We have sent some of our members to Aspen but it is not an official destination for us yet. The other two are on our radar and should be added sometime this year. We should be announcing an addition to our portfolio soon that will be just what you are referring to about Condo/hotels. We already offer (in a lot of our destinations) homes in multiple regions -directly on the mountain/ beach vs. being in town or village. We know it is important to offer our members the flexibility to stay in various regions. Though, I have to say most of our members have been staying directly on the beach or ski in/ ski out but they have the flexibility to stay in the village if they wanted. |

| if you could get things like condohotel units that require longterm leases, or resort managed villas, that would be a plus IMHO. although to be honest, for me personally it would come down to the specific property, as well as value. |

Club: One Key | Kage - Can I ask if you are currently a member of a DC? If not, what are your hesitations of joining a club (not specifically One Key but any club)? I have read a lot of your posts and I think every one on this site that relates to One Key. I feel like you are missing the value of One Key. When just looking at the costs of homes, there are both instances of good values and bad values that you have pointed out and they are fair. It is not just about finding a deal, but it is about consistency - planning a vacation with the same person no matter where you are traveling, being comfortable traveling to a new location and knowing you aren't getting ripped off by a local because you don't how much your boat taxi should cost (I assume it is the same with a DC). And yes, you can book a private home yourself but how do you know the pictures are telling the entire story? You can't, we've walked through every home that a One Key member stays in. Are you going to visit every home you might potentially stay in? Of course not. And trust me, if you only looked at pictures of some of the homes that are turned down for our portfolio you would be shocked that they were not included. If you stay in hotels when you travel and the concierge makes a recommendation, is that really the best place to go or is it the place that they get the best commission at? I could go on but my point is that it is about more than a home with One Key. There is a lot of other value that you are over looking that isn't going to fit into a financial analysis that you would use on a DC or when you think you can get a better value booking a home yourself. |

| i would be glad to book through onekey if you offered a good discount at a property i was specifically interested in doing a ~2 week stay at. i have also pointed out the FS LAS deals, for example, to others. so i will always pay attention to your announced properties. i am not a member of a club, and will most likely join lusso once i have more scheduling flexibility. (i guess i discussed that more back on TUG?) Last edited by Kagehitokiri; 05-14-2008 at 10:03 AM. |
