Club: ER, HCC Corporate, DHH Lite, Bud Lite (A few too many) | Aruba is a popular destination with good year round weather. Though I have never been, I hear good things about Aruba. It is a popular place for Timeshares with two Marriotts and several other timeshares. Any idea why Destination Clubs have avoided this site? St. Thomas, Turks, Grand Cayman, Yucatan Peninsula, Canouan, Bahamas, St. Barths, Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands and Anguilla have been chosen by DC's but Aruba has been conspicuously avoided. |

Club: High Country Club | I have never been to Aruba, perhaps it is a simple lack of demand from destination club members. I have often wondered why there are no Destination Club properties in the North Carolina Blue Ridge Mountains. This is a great place to vacation and the prices are very reasonable. |

Quintess found that their home in Pinehurst NC had the least interest and has taken it out of its portfolio. I don't think that the NC Blue Ridge Mountains would draw a national interest either. At a cost of $1000-$2000 per membership night, I would probably chose a different destination myself. Many friends who have been to Aruba say the weather and beach are great with many dining options. They have very few hurricaines and good year round weather. I have never been but am interested in giving it a try.

Club: UE Signature, HCC, Freedom Yacht Club | Aruba does have excellent weather and some nice beaches (though some people are turned off by the constant flow of oil tankers in the shipping lanes just offshore). It seems to be a much more 'mid-segment' oriented destination, however; lots of $699 air + hotel specials from the Northeast, and tons of 3 and 4 star hotels, but no Ritz, FS, Aman, etc. The other destinations you mention (St. Thomas, Turks, Grand Cayman, Yucatan Peninsula, Canouan, Bahamas, St. Barths, Dominican Republic, British Virgin Islands and Anguilla) all have a much more upscale reputation, and much more upscale resorts. |

I have a friend that owns a place in Mountain Air, NC and it is a great vacation destination and I actually played golf pretty well there with their rental clubs. You can easily rent there cheaper than $1,000 per night. Also, Ginn Club & Resort is is building an incredible development in Laurelmor, NC.

Club: ER, HCC Corporate, DHH Lite, Bud Lite (A few too many) | Jet Blue has non stops to Aruba from New York and Boston. So from the NE, it has become much easier to get there and cheaper, except for the usual holidays. I think I am going to have to try it out someday, without the benefit of a DC home. |
