Default Deer Valley Destination Clubs

Yesterday, I skied at Deer Valley for the first time since 2003.

Wow...has development exploded at that resort. St Regis is being built near the base, the Silver Strike area has exploded, and the Empire pass area is taking off.

The most amazing area is a group of 20 or so homes called Red Cloud at the top of the mountain. The lots start at $4m and completed homes will probably start at $10m. The Deer Crest area is very well developed and I saw the two famous homes there - the $20m home with a private gondola (much shorter than I imagined) and the Ski Magazine dream home.

I have no idea where all this money is coming from. The average millionaire in Deer Valley is definitely not able to afford a true ski-in out property.

I know many Destination Clubs have homes in Deer Valley and it would be fun to see a list of the locations each club bought into.

I was there the first week of December, right after 20 inches of fresh powder and I am going back at the end of March. I love it there and it is great for skiers (no snowboarders), no lift lines, not craziness, no crowds, good food. I know the homes at Ironwood where ER and Lusso have homes go for north of $3.5 million and the homes at The Inn at Silver Lake also are around the same price, where Lusso has a home and UR has two homes. They are both Ski-in Ski-out, the Inn at Silver Lake being very easy and central. I don't lke the Black Bear Lodge as much which is across the street, where High Country Club has a two bedroom, but the location is pretty good, but not ski in ski out. But again, HCC price point is much lower and it is not a fair comparison.

Here are some links to the Deerfield Estate home that is located in Deer Valley for about $20m and has it's own private gondola (runs about 100 feet from the house to the ski run in the backyard).

Red Cloud is at the top of Empire Pass and is the highest of any Deer Valley homes and the most expensive. There were only two homes that were under construction that I saw.

Talisker is doing a great job in Deer Valley and they just purchased The Canyons resort. Hopefully they will build that mountain up like Deer Valley.

One of the nicest developments I have ever seen is located in The Canyons resort in Park City called The Colony. The homes here start at $7m and average several acres of property. The layout and design is spectacular and the density is very low. One problem with Deer Valley development is very high density.

Check it out

Here is a link to a $28m property for sale that is at the base of the 9990 lift and I actually thought it was a public ski lodge when I first saw it as it was so huge.

two-story tall Pilkington Glass Wall,
wonder how much that cost. looks incredible.

so the ski dream home and deerfield are ~13K ft2 and ~$20MM, while that canyons property is ~33K ft2 and ~$30MM.

Default Re: Deer Valley Home for sale - bargain?

The semi-famous Deerfield Estate home is back on the market and I saw it on eBay for only $28 million.

This is the home in Deer Valley that has it's own private ski gondola from the house to the skirun. I used to wonder why they don't feature the private gondola in too many pictures, until I saw pictures of the house...it is more like a moving cart on a track (non-elevated) and is only about 100 feet long. It probably takes longer to get in, start it up, and ride up/down than it would if you simply walked up/down the driveway. But an interesting selling feature, not the less.
