Default Westgate Resorts purchases HCC - April Fools!

Westgate Resorts completes its purchase of High Country Club

Westgate Resorts, a subsidiary of Central Florida Investments, Inc., has announced that they have completed a purchase of High Country Club, a rapidly growing Destination Club, based in Denver, Colorado. Westgate Resorts was founded in 1970 by David A. Siegel and has grown into one of the largest providers of quality timeshare vacation experiences located in exclusive resorts across the world.

“We feel the rapid success of High Country Club in the Destination Club industry along with the domination of Westgate Resorts in the timeshare industry will make a fantastic opportunity for growth of both products,” said David Siegel, Chairman of Westgate Resorts. “We are pleased with the entire Kirschner family and how they were able to compete in a tremendously competitive market and look forward to their continued contribution towards creating unique distinctive holiday homes for our members.”

There have been rumors and speculation for months among industry insiders and it came to a crescendo at the 8th annual Ragatz Fractional Interest Conference that was held in San Francisco. Halogen Guides, SherpaReport, and DestinationClubForums.com were specifically prevented from publishing any details of this acquisition because they all signed non-disclosure agreements (NDAs).

“I hate to keep secrets,” said Heath Kirschner, the new VP of the combined membership services for Central Florida Investments, Inc. “but in the long run this is a win-win-win for everyone. We were not trying to hideaway anything from our current members and feel this partnership will create the ultimate resort club in the market. ”

Westgate Resorts will be changing all the locks on current High Country Club properties into magnetic strip locks for security and current members will be able to access any property with only one key that can be activated via a special marker on a password protected website.

Now come on, aren't you about 47 minutes early with this post?

And besides, I had heard Donald Trump was buying HCC. Instead of North Face jackets, we all get overpriced steaks.

In case you were wondering:

For the record. Heath Kirschner, Sales V.P. @ High Country Club states that HCC is not in talks with anyone to be sold. The company has been very successful with their business model and intends to continue to growth the company by providing extraordinary value and service to it's current and potential travelers.

Well played, Bill. I wasn't duped, but I'll admit to completely missing out on all of the DC hints in the copy. Kudos.

Very creative -- you took more than 5 minutes to whip up that gem, Bill.

Default Re: Westgate Resorts purchases HCC - April Fools!

I edited this thread title to add "April Fools" as it is now April 2nd and the joke is now over.

HCC thought this was in good fun, but wants us to CLARIFY that it was a joke and they are NOT selling to Westgate (or anyone else) as apparently they received several concerned phone calls and e-mails from current and perspective members.
