Makes sense when you consider that most timeshares/fractionals sell all 52 weeks of the year, or very close to it. Even destination clubs that sell "unlimited" usage plans, the practical usage rules make is so that it is very unlikely a property would be 100% utilized in a year.

Have any of you looked at Resort Equities? We were interested in that group as a fractional before we went the DC route. It looks a bit more manageable being a smaller group of properties rather than a large hotel chain. But we still decided with our limited schedule that it wasn't a good option for us. Thoughts?

The listing on Halogen for RC caught my eye (it was part of the newest or updated listings section):

Halogen Guides | The Ritz-Carlton Club® Destination Clubs

Very DC like listing. Has their listing always been like this?

Good catch, Kag. Part of the DC directory now. I guess that's semi-confirmation of the major player entering the DC business.

They better plan on putting up more than 6 destinations (11 total including those in development). Also, they'll have to sell out a lot less time in order to provide some decent availability to compare to DCs.

This will be interesting to watch. I suspect RC could "mainstream" the DC business, much more than even ER, UE, Q, HCC and A&K. One risk for them is they introduce people to the concept and then they end up buying into another DC that has more locations, better homes and better availability and in effect cannibalize their fractional product. RC, however, would have a good brand name and hotel services/amenities for all properties.
