Club: DC4MS.com | The Destination Club Association is having a meeting on January 17th at the Exclusive Resorts Corporate Headquarters: 1515 Arapahoe Street Tower 3, Suite 300 Denver, CO 80202 Destination Club Forums was NOT invited but here are a few items of interest:1. Both Helium Report and SherpaReport are making presentations to the DCA. 2. The Hawaii regulation, or better yet lack of regulation will probably be discussed in great detail. 3. I heard a rumor that they may accept a new Destination Club member or two. ------- Here are some of my ideas (in case they read this) 1. Create a website and really promote the DCA. This should be for the benefit of the entire industry. Most clubs brag that they are "transparent", but the DCA is about as "opaque" as anything I have ever seen, or should I say "not seen". Getting accurate information about the DCA is like having a tooth pulled...not easy or fun. 2. Come up with a nice logo and have all club members put that logo on their web site and brochures. 3. Investigate coming up with an industry solution to solve the most important thing holding the destination club back from explosive growth - some type of bond or insurance product that will guarantee a members deposit in the even of a destination club bankruptcy. 4. Try to get 100% participation of all destination clubs in the DCA. 5. Send out regular press releases so the public has some idea of what you are doing. 6. Publish a full list of your members and officers. 7. Publish your budget. If dues is in the $20k per year range (rumor), where is that money going (lobbyist?) 8. Invite individual club members (of the DCA club members) to attend the DCA meetings. If any club member is willing to travel to attend this meeting, they should be welcomed. 9. Avoid having the meetings at ER headquarters as this may be intimidating to the other clubs with less than 3,000 members. 10. Stop being so secretive....oh, I already said that. |

4 - unfortunately that sort of thing never happens in the real world whats telling is how the companies that dont join explain their decision. if their argument is good, IMHO its just as good as if they were a member. if they ignore it, you know there might be some issues. | |
