Unannounced fare sale on AA?

Just as an FYI... Possibly in response to the PR & costs associated with all the MD-80 cancellations, AA seems to have quietly slashed fares on a number of routes, especially around the holidays. I've been monitoring fares for a Thanksgiving trip, and the last 3 days the fare suddenly dropped from $651 pp to $510 pp to $440 pp and today down to $389 pp. I checked other routes I fly often, and they were down as well, though not as dramatically. Doesn't seem to have been matched by other airlines...

Thanks for this information as planning Summer trips and getting sticker shock at the air fares is a common theme on other travel forums.
