| Junior Member | I am not currently a member of a destination club but I have begun the initial investigation. I'm wondering if any of the clubs allow an owner/member to rent out nights that you are not able to use. Or does it have to be either family or employees (depending on the membership). Thx. |

Club: DC4MS.com | I am not aware of any Destination Club that allows members to rent their nights to a stranger or on the open market, however, many clubs have a family and friends option or even a corporate option that will allow a non-member to enjoy an occasional stay at one of the club properties. Destination Clubs are designed like a private golf club or a private spa where only members are allowed, yet non-members can attend with a guest or with an invitation from a guest. I am pretty sure that the destination clubs will not interrogate who you define family or friends, but I am also sure that if any club discovered a member advertising a club property rental on eBay, VRBO, or any of the various internet rental sites, they would want to stop it. |

| 3 clubs let anyone use your nights > - Exclusive Resorts Ultra Plan (all nights) - Private Escapes (only space available nights @ additional fee) - Solstice Collection (only plan nights) the rest might have 1>2 guest weeks, or use by corporate employees, but thats all. theoretically it would be possible, just like with anything else. and i dont know of any club language like with private jets that say no reselling of usage is allowed. even in that case though, there is no way to really prove it. although i seem to recall one of the new clubs linked here (not discussed on Helium/Sherpa) said something or other about renting your nights. Club: ER, HCC Corporate, DHH Lite, Bud Lite (A few too many) | The corporate or family plans rules that I have seen for the many destination clubs that I have inquired about clearly state that the days cannot be "sold". But as stated previously, I think that this means that they cannot be sold on the open market or for a profit. I don't see how anyone can stop you from accepting a "payment" to cover dues for the nights used from a family member or corporation member, but the DC's are clearly against this and encourage that these should be "gifted". |

Club: Sherpa Report | - None of the clubs allow members to sell nights on the open market. - Many of the clubs do have corporate plans to allow sharing amongst colleagues or business partners. - Most of the clubs also have some level of use for unaccompanied family members or friends. In some cases this is limited to a certain number of nights per year/plan, and in other cases there is an incremental fee to pay. We've recently summarized the details on SherpaReport in an article Can Family Members Use the Destination Club Homes ? Exceptions Some of the clubs/funds do offer their homes on the rental market. This helps reduce the annual membership fees. These clubs include: - Worldwide Private Residences - Grand Resort Properties - Rocksure Property Funds |

I get the feeling from the original poster (McFads) that they may be considering buying a fractional property (where you can rent weeks as you own deeded property) vs joining a destination club (where you are not allowed to rent your weeks as you are a member of a club and property usage is designed primarily for personal usage). I will post a separate thread on fractionals vs destination clubs in the near future. | |

Club: A&K Residence Club | I think it depends on the fractional. If I remember correctly, I was reviewing the agreement for the Four Seasons PRC in Costa Rica for a client and I don't believe they allow rentals of your time. |

| odd, because they allow rentals of both fractional and full ownership at punta mita. (where full ownership is included in hotel inventory) i wonder whether the residences listed in hotel inventory at costa rica include fractionals, or just full ownership. |

Club: Sherpa Report | TarheelTraveller, thats my understanding too, that it does vary by fractional/prc. So its important to look through all the docs for any fractional that you're interested in. |
