Default How long does it take to resign from a Destination Club?

This thread is to explore a topic that popped up in another discussion and the topic is:

If someone decides to resign from a Destination Club, how long should the process take from the day you notify them to the day you get your full (or partial) membership fee returned?

For the record, I am not aware of any long waiting lists for any of the major Destination Clubs and this has not been a major problem or issue for anyone in the recent past (T&H and Protofino excluded)

Some clubs require you to finish your dues for the year you are currently in, even if you haven't used any, but they still give you the OK to use those days until the anniversary of your start date. If you don't do that, they take the money from your membership fee. So it would appear that you can't get your money back until your anniversary date. I think HCC operates that way as you pay your dues monthly.

One of the statements made above is true. However, the assumption is incorrect. Here are the details of the HCC Policy...

1. At this very moment, there is no member on HCC's exit list.

2. HCC has a 2:1 exit policy for equivalent memberships. A companion member(7day) can exit as soon as two companion(7Day) members or one Associate(15 day) member joins. Once the 2:1 clause is satisfied, the deposit money minus 20% will be returned within 30 days.

3. This situation has not happened yet with HCC given the growth. In a scenario where new members do not join to fulfill the 2:1 clause, the current member on the waiting list is liable for dues limited to the current membership year. Beyond that, the dues stop and you wait for new memebrs to join so that the deposit can be returned.

4. In case where the 2:1 clause is fulfilled, a member can choose to have the remaining membership year's dues withheld from the deposit and have the ability to use all nights for that membership year.

Quintess has a 3 in , 1 out policy...
Last month it would have taken you a week to get out.
Typically I tell prospective members 30-45 days, although it has always been quicker than that by the numbers.
If you choose to stop paying dues, you must stop using the club, but if your dues are current, you can still travel.

I believe we had our check from ER (resigned in mid March) by mid-April. We had some paperwork to sign and return, but the check came relatively quickly.

I've been on the resignation list for > 1 year. Looks like I might end up on it "forever".

... and I hope it does not become an issue for other club(s)/member(s), but I don't think you can simply exclude T&H/Portofino from consideration as there are other clubs in existance that followed some of the same practices that may have helped lead to their problems. (One example: offering lower initial fees and dues and expecting to be able to sell enough higher priced memberships later to make up for it.)

I was only referring to the "current" member resignation lists.

Correct me if I am wrong but that list is not going anywhere. It' a Chapter 7 not a Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

At this point, IMHO, it is a different kind of a list. A list set up by the bankruptcy court...And members are probably at the bottom of that list....

Distinctive Holiday Homes has a 1 in 1 out policy (of the same Membership plan), which I understand is one of the best resignation policies out there.. We have not had anyone ask to resign.
