Tanner & Haley, the company that pioneered the Destination Club industry in 1998, was originally founded as Private Retreats by Rob McGrath and was associated with Abercrombie & Kent.

The destination club grew to 874 members among three clubs: Private, Distinctive, and Legendary Retreats, filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy in July 2006, and was acquired by Ultimate Resort for approximately $100 million in May 2007. The demise of Tanner & Haley caused a huge ripple thru the destination Club industry that is still felt today.

This sub-forum is dedicated to archiving their initial success, the problems that developed with their growth, the problems with their business plan, their overpromising of unsustainable property availability, and their excessive reliance on leased properties.
