I just booked my hotel reservation for the IMN Destination Club Industry Symposium at the Trump International Sonesta Beach Resort.

The group rate is $259 + resort fee + tax = $308.72 per room with a 72 hour cancellation period.

The online rate is $254 + resort fee + tax = $303.07 per room with a 7 day advance non-refundable discount.

There is also a AAA discount rate (but that is the same as the group rate).

I went with the standard IMN group rate.

That's right. It's that magical weekend where strategy will be hashed out, a new merger deal may be announced, and new potential deals will get started. My what I wouldn't give to be a fly on the wall in the lobby over the weekend.

The Trump is a very nice place. You probably won't have time to enjoy the hotel's leisurely pursuits, but feel free to stock up on the free apples at the check-in desk. If you get a chance to check out the beach (that's a much nicer strip of Miami Beach than the party-hearty South Beach area) and the two swimming pools (the zero-entry, cascading pool is beautiful, but the downstairs pool is actually much warmer since it's under direct sunlight longer).

Taking the free shuttle from the hotel to either Aventura or Bal Harbour will introduce some great restaurants and shopping.

And in the DC-bent, Lusso and Private Escapes have condos there, or you can walk South a block to see where Ultimate has its Aqualina 3-bedroom condo.

Either way, I think you'll return with A LOT more industry buzz and information than you bargained for. I can't wait to hear it.
