Default High Country Club Sales Brochure (Book)

I just received a hard copy of the new High Country Club sales brochure and it is very impressive.

HCC is NOT sending this to the current members as they only ordered 1,000 copies and they are planning to update it with their new properties (i.e Outer Banks, NC), but they sent me one to give to my friend that is considering joining HCC.

This hard cover book is about 80 pages full color double-sided and is bound like a college yearbook and is very well done.

Fortunately, you can see the same thing by visiting their website and downloading a 9MB PDF file that is about 55 pages long (many double page spreads) and is also very impressive.

Special message to HCC (in case they read this) - Make sure to stock all the HCC properties with at least 4 or 5 copies of this book as it will be a great sales tool for any non-member friends that come to visit their HCC member-friends while they are on vacation.

Great idea Steamboat. Also members could take one or two copies (property manager would have to monitor inventory properly as these might get snapped up) to bring back home to show their friends who may not be with the member on a given visit, but are considering joining.

Depends on how slick the DVD production is.

Personally, I think putting money into the website is the smartest move. Books & DVD's are going to quickly become dated.

The differences in costing of a book vs a dvd are pretty much in the up front end of the production. If the DVD is essentially just a slide show of photos with music and narration it could be cheaper than the production and printing of a hard cover book. But the end of run costs (extra copies added to the budget press run) for a dvd should be cheaper than the book.

If they make the dvd a 'motion' show you can get into very high up front costs compared to a book (or slide show dvd) so that's where the costing variables come into effect with special on-site videography. I know 'voices' that cost about $10,000 an hour and on-site videography can go through the roof. Authoring a motion dvd can also be very expensive and time consuming...but making copies of the final dvd can be inexpensive.

My view is that a dvd slideshow of static pictures is not as impressive as a printed colourful hardcover book. However, done right with professional video camera work, a dvd movie can make you feel like you are right there. However, very few of the DC DVD's I've seen are motion type productions.

The DVD did come with the book, but the book is MUCH more impressive.

The DVC was a series of interviews with several members (not me) and was kinda boring (sorry HCC).

As I said, the book is incredibly impressive and they probably should send one to every member so they can brag to their friends on how smart they are by joining HCC. This would be a cheap form of advertising as 1 or 2 new members will easily pay for the entire press run.

The DVD is boring. It really needs to be redone. Then again, HCC is affordable luxury
