Club: HCC | I'm just finishing up my last night here in Keystone. The unit and location are great. We come up to Summit County each summer so HCC fits well for what we like to do. We've had a great time and will hate heading out tomorrow. We've been very low key during this trip as my wife is 7+ months pregnant. She wanted to travel, Doc said "OK" so who am I to complain? We didn't fly but drove. The unit is nice. Almost 2k sqft, 4 bed, 3 bath. It has those great beds that HCC is known for too. Two car heated on ground floor w/ mud area and lots of storage and washer/dryer. Main floor has 2 bedrooms, 1 bath, nice kitchen and a cozy area to sit around and visit. Upstairs has 2 bedrooms and each has it's own bath. Furnishings throughout are nice, well kept and the kitchen is stocked extremely well. The neighborhood is great....very quiet, new, and a great community pool w/ 2 hot tubs and a clubhouse. As a whole, this unit is of the quality and furnishings I expected when I joined. We've seen quite a bit of wildlife this trip. The unit backs to forest with nothing between us and the wilderness...no units behind you here at all. We've had a few deer walk by very close and tonight there is a bear!! I was surprised to see it. There is a dumpster at the opposite end of this townhome building and the bear was looking for dinner. It is not doubt the biggest brown bear I have ever seen in the wild, around 400lbs I'd estimate. Anyhow, we took a bunch of pictures and kept our distance. We also saw an elk and a fox. Most of our time was spent relaxing and knocking out a few books. I had my folks up earlier in the week and my Dad and I rented a pair of ATVS for two days. If any of you are into OHV riding at all let me know and I'll get you the details on the best places to ride around here. We rode three different areas that all varied in difficulty. Ran across many very old log homes, mines, ponds, creeks, snow, etc... Great riding up here in Summit! Other than that we did a lot of shopping. I got a bunch of great deals on ski equipment and clothing getting ready for our trip up to Beaver Creek Village Hall the week after Thanksgiving. Can't eait, I hope the snow is as good next season as it was this last season. Last summer we were at the Breckenridge Lodge. If you ever stay there a pair of foxes will come by about dinner time every day looking for scraps. We gave them some cheeze-its IIRC. One day they cam eearly and caught my wife on the deck reading...they are wild no doubt but are willing to get pretty close to you. She was terrified, the foxes were hungry. |

Club: High Country Club | Don't worry about the foxes, there's plenty of good eatin out there, especially the smaller houspets. BTW: Ted, book dinner at Grouse Mountain Grill while you're in Beaver Creek, (if you're lucky they'll have ritz cracker crusted walleye on the menu), a really great restuarant w/ a killer wine list. Splendido is also outstanding, if a little over the top. There's some good Mexican down the hill in Avon if you feel like leaving the Village. |
