Default Member List

DCs often refer to the country club-like design of the concept but there is not the social aspect whatsoever. Has HCC given consideration to publishing a member list or occupancy roster so that nearby members might get together either at home or at neighboring properties?

Privacy legislation would make something of that nature all but impossible.

Sorry to heist an HCC thread, but one thing that I did like when we were ER members was the members-only forum (which was password protected within the ER Member website). While obviously all members didn't participate, there were those of us that were regulars, and posted when we were to be at a particular destination so as to get together with other members who wished to share in our company over a drink!

That said, I have approached LUSSO with a similar concept... hopefully, in the future there will be some sort of easy communication between members so that those of us who appreciate getting to meet others can!

While I realize that the privacy laws would prohibit the club from releasing information such as this, those of us willing could disclose our whereabouts within a secure environment with other club members.

You might ask HCC how they feel and whether they would be willing to create a user forum for members only...

3DH, i presume prospective members with guest accounts to the website did not have access to the forum?

No, you are correct, as only registered members had access, Kage...

I think a membership list and online secure forum would be a great idea for HCC members. To kick off things, or a membership directory, you'd have to see which members would be willing to share the information and five HCC written permission. That same document would require members to keep a membership directory 's content (an online directory I am assuming) confidential. But the more helpful aspect for members and HCC management would be something along the lines 3DH describes ER uses.

Then people can log-in and share trip and property tips or other club matters only if they want to and can use screen names, but could decide though email facilitation, like this forum, to disclose if they wanted to (in the text of those emails) personal information, such as real names, contact information, etc.

I would be very interested in getting to know other members. I have learned SO much from this forum over the last 6 months and would love to learn more from other HCC members who have been members much longer than I have. These types of forums are invaluable in my opinion. I never would have known the types of questions to ask and known the relative risks if it hadn't been for this forum and therefore may have never had the nerve to take the plunge. So thanks DC4MS!! I do hope that HCC will learn the value of something like this!

Or do it the way Flyertalk members meet...

All you need is the general location. If there are 3-5 members in CHI, NYC, LAX etc, post a date, time and location for the meet and let anyone join in. The invitation can be extended to non members and members of other clubs too.

This isn't HIPPA or something - I belong to a "club" at my weekend place and each year they publish a member list with phone numbers, home addresses, and the like.

I am sure many HCC members are also CC members (golf/pool/tennis) in their home areas (I am not) - don't they publish lists?

I'd be game. I've met some HCC members not including my family and friends I've signed up and it was all very cordial and we had interesting/enlightening conversations. I'd like to meet more like-minded people and share experiences and learn more from them.

Just got back from the ER Seabourn Cruise. I have been too busy to post a review. But the best thing about the cruise was that the entire ship was composed of 200 ER members and family. The highlight of the trip was making friends with like interests and discussing our travels and experiences with the club. We found all the members to be wonderful people, making membership in the club that much more rewarding. I can't say enough about meeting other members within the club. The ER members only forum has also been great for communication between members.

I'll definitely give credit where credit is due. Two very good ideas put in place by ER that I hope get implemented by other clubs including my own.

Mine does - I am a social member of a nearby golf club (not a golfer, but a lot of friends and neighbors are). My guess is the operating agreement I got when I signed up gave them to permission to publish my information.
