Club: High Country Club, Pinnacle Yachts | I was keeping track of this but forgot to post the results... The Ironman triathlon is widely considered the ultimate test of endurance, and the toughest one-day race in the world. It starts off with a 2.4-mile swim, followed by a 112-mile bike ride, and finally a 26.2-mile marathon run! The average competitor trains 20 hours per week for up to six months to prepare themselves for the task, and the right to be called ‘an Ironman' for the rest of their lives. It's very common to see athletes reduced to tears as they cross the finish line, overcome by the realization that they have finally accomplished a goal most consider impossible. 2008 Ford Ironman USA Lake Placid | CEO Challenges Christian Kirschner on Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Club: High Country Club | Wow, congrats! It is an amazing accomplishment, indeed. One of our employees from the company I work for also competed in a different event recently. Here is the press release: "Thomas Naasz, employee of *** corpoation R&D in Amsterdam, has qualified for the IRONMAN Triathlon World Championship in October in Hawaii. Thomas qualified by participating in the IRONMAN European Championship held in Frankfurt, Germany on Sunday, July 6th. Over two thousand athletes from 45 countries were cheered on by 500,000 spectators. Thomas started the triathlon with a 2.36 mile swim in the Langener Waldsee lake, followed by a bike trip of 112 miles and ended with a 42.2 km run to finish in 9hours and 20 minutes! Congratulations, Thomas!" |
