| I'm curious what 'In Development' means at HCC in terms of how 'real' it is and what timeframe? Here's the current list from their website -- seems the same as it was last year ... is it just a promotion gimmick to sell memberships? Should you be holding your breath for London & Paris? What do their monthly 'member newsletters' say - or is silence golden? Bahamas Chicago, Illinois Las Vegas, Nevada London, England Miami, Florida Napa Valley, California New England Coast Orange Country, California Paris, France Scottsdale, Arizona St. Lucia St. Martin Whistler, British Columbia |

Club: High Country Club | It probably means the same as it does at most other clubs. The phrase "in development" is a stunningly poor choice of words - "wish" list might be more appropriate. I think the entire industry is guilty of this, HCC isn't any better or worse than the rest I suspect. |

Club: Exclusive Resorts | I know that on ER's website "In Development" has almost always meant the papers have been signed and a project is in the works. The only exception I can think of was a Rosewood project in Fiji that ended up not being built at all. |

Club: Ultimate Escapes Elite | I take it at face value from their web-site. "High Country Club is actively pursuing the following destinations." They have decided that they want to be in those markets, are working with realtors, examining micro-locales to determine where they want to be, seeing how much they can get for their money, etc. The "Future" destinations are their "wish list" and their member's "wish list" places, which once they are serious about it will be moved to "In Development." I think that as with all the DCs, however, that certain "too good to pass up" opportunities come along and quickly appear either as current or In Development, like the recent ranch acquisition. |

Club: High Country Club | Fair point, I forgot that they had the "Future Destination" category as well. I do still think that "in development" is a misnomer - they may represent the next locations but the list hasn't changed in a long time from viewing their newsletters. I would have thought that they should have brought at least one on-line by now with the addition of 60+ members since the beginning of the year. |
